The recognized epitope is specific to a non-polymorphic HLA class II (DR, DP, DQ) Ia antigen constituted of α and β polypeptides of 34 and 29 kDa respectively. This antigen is expressed on monocytes, macrophages, B lymphocytes and activated T lymphocytes.
